The concept for SuburbChooser.com started in 2013 when the founder (Jayen) was looking for a place to live in Sydney. He was very frustrated looking at websites not being able to decide where to live, especially since there wasn't one page where he could quickly compare suburbs or even apartments. So he came up with this idea to create a site to combine data together using preferences, rather than just being able to search and sort by a single factor. Being technically minded, he was able to create such a site. That's how SuburbChooser.com was born. With SuburbChooser.com, anyone can quickly choose what suburb to live in. (Now if only we could do the same for individual apartments! It's very difficult to quickly see the price/distance trade-off.)
Currently there are no openings, but we are always interested in talented students. Contact us or check back later.
We moved from Marrickville Council to The Municipality of Ashfield at SuburbChooser.com's recommendation. It's definitely cheaper and closer to Circular Quay, and it feels a lot safer as well. Thanks SuburbChooser.com!
SuburbChooser.com helps saving time in finding the most suitable location for yourself and your family.
There are too many suburbs to list them all. We only show you the ones with the best value given your preferences.
Since most people take more trips to their workplace than any other single place, living close to your workplace is the most convenient. However, it is only our recommendation. You are able to enter any location you love to live near if it is what you want and the results will show you nearby suburbs for your consideration.
Our algorithm takes a little time. The percentage represents the portion of areas that have been considered for you (out of the ones that will be considered).
This usually occurs because we don't have rental cost information for that suburb. If there aren't a statistically significant number of rentals over the covered period (usually a quarter of a year), the suburb is not considered.
At this time, we only have pricing information for postcodes, so the information you see for a group of suburbs is the information for that postcode. Suburbs occasionally cross postcodes, so you may see a marker indicating which postcode the data applies to.

Currently we only support Sydney. Expansion is limited to available public data. Contact us if you want to request another city.
The results are not sorted by any one factor, but rather the combination of factors and your preferences. If you wish to see cheaper suburbs that are still good value, tweak the "Cheaper" slider.
The intention is that they are sorted by your preferences, and not any one factor. If you wish to see cheaper suburbs that are still good value, tweak the "Cheaper" slider.
